Social Planner — StudioM Platform Guide

Who this guide is for: Anyone managing social media posts and scheduling for their business through the StudioM platform. Time to read: Approximately 8 minutes

What Is the Social Planner?

The Social Planner lets you create, schedule, and manage social media posts across multiple platforms — all from one place. Instead of logging into Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Google separately, you write your post once and publish it everywhere you need it.

You can post immediately or schedule posts in advance, view your upcoming content in a calendar, and see how your posts are performing.

How to Get There

Navigate to: Marketing (left sidebar) → Social Planner

Supported Platforms

The Social Planner works with the following platforms (depending on which accounts are connected to your account):

  • Facebook (Pages)
  • Instagram (Business accounts)
  • LinkedIn (Company Pages and personal profiles)
  • Twitter / X
  • Google Business Profile
  • TikTok (Business accounts)
  • Pinterest
  • YouTube
  • Threads
  • Bluesky

Need StudioM Support for This? Connecting your social media accounts to the platform is handled by StudioM during onboarding, or when you add a new channel. Contact us if you need to connect a new platform or reconnect an existing one.

The Social Planner Layout

When you open the Social Planner, you'll see:

  • Calendar view — all scheduled posts displayed by date
  • List view — your posts in a scrollable list with status filters
  • + New Post button — to create a new post
  • Accounts — the connected platforms shown along the top

Switch between calendar and list views using the toggle in the top right.

Creating a Post

  1. Click + New Post
  2. Select the accounts you want to post to (you can select multiple platforms at once)
  3. Write your post content in the text box
  4. Optionally add media (image, video, or carousel — see platform limits below)
  5. Choose when to publish:
  6. Post Now — publishes immediately
  7. Schedule — pick a specific date and time
  8. Save as Draft — save without publishing or scheduling
  9. Click Post or Schedule

Adding Media

Click the image/video icon to attach media to your post. You can: - Upload from your computer - Choose from your Media Library (images already stored in the platform)

Media is uploaded once and used across all selected platforms simultaneously.

Platform-Specific Content

When you select multiple platforms, you can write a single post that goes to all of them, or click on any platform tab to customise the caption for that platform specifically. This is useful when you want different wording for LinkedIn vs. Instagram, for example.

Platform Content Guidelines

Each platform has different character limits and media requirements. The platform will warn you if your content exceeds a limit.

Platform Character Limit (approx.) Notes
Facebook 63,206 Supports images, videos, links
Instagram 2,200 Images and videos; no clickable links in captions
LinkedIn 3,000 Company pages; supports images and documents
Twitter / X 280 Short text; images and videos supported
Google Business Profile 1,500 Event posts have additional fields
TikTok 2,200 Video required; various privacy settings
Pinterest 500 Image required; includes a destination URL field

Scheduling Posts

The Social Planner's scheduling features let you plan your content calendar in advance:

Scheduling a Single Post

When creating a post, select Schedule and pick your date and time. The post will be queued and published automatically.

Viewing Scheduled Posts

Open the Calendar view to see all your upcoming scheduled posts by date. Click any post to edit, reschedule, or delete it.

Best Times to Post

The platform can suggest optimal posting times based on when your audience is most active. Look for the Best Time to Post suggestion when scheduling.

Post Status Types

Status What It Means
Draft Saved but not scheduled or published
Scheduled Queued to publish at a future time
Published Successfully posted to the platform(s)
Failed Posting attempt was unsuccessful — see note below

If a post fails, the platform will show an error message explaining why (e.g., account disconnected, media format not supported). Fix the issue and retry.

Post Approval Workflow

If your account has an approval process configured, posts may need to be reviewed before publishing:

  • In Review — submitted and waiting for approval
  • Approved — cleared to post/schedule
  • Changes Requested — reviewer has left feedback; edit and resubmit

Need StudioM Support for This? Setting up a post approval workflow is configured by StudioM. Contact us if you'd like to enable content approval before posts go live.

Content AI (AI-Assisted Post Writing)

If AI features are enabled on your account, you can use the Content AI tool to help write or improve your post captions:

  1. Start a new post and click the AI icon in the text editor
  2. Describe what you want — for example: "Write an Instagram caption promoting our new service package for small businesses"
  3. The AI generates a draft caption
  4. Review, edit as needed, and use it

Content AI helps when you're stuck for ideas or want to save time writing captions.

Analytics

To see how your social posts are performing:

  1. Navigate to Marketing → Social Planner
  2. Click the Analytics tab (or go to the dedicated analytics view)
  3. See metrics by platform including:
  4. Impressions (how many times your post was seen)
  5. Engagement (likes, comments, shares, clicks)
  6. Follower growth
  7. Post performance over time
  8. Top-performing posts

Use analytics to understand which content resonates most with your audience and adjust your strategy accordingly.

Comment Management

If your account has the Comment Management feature enabled, you can manage comments from all platforms in one inbox:

  • See all comments on your posts in one place
  • Reply to comments without leaving the platform
  • Filter by platform or date

Need StudioM Support for This? Comment management setup depends on your account configuration. Contact StudioM Support if you'd like this enabled.

Best Practices

  • Batch your content creation — set aside time once a week to create and schedule posts for the coming days
  • Use the calendar view — seeing your content calendar laid out helps ensure consistent posting
  • Customise per platform — what works on Instagram may not work on LinkedIn; use the platform-specific caption feature
  • Always preview before scheduling — use the preview option to see how your post will look on each platform before it goes live
  • Keep images within file size limits — large images may fail; compress before uploading if you encounter issues
  • Use a consistent posting schedule — regular, predictable posting builds audience engagement over time

Troubleshooting

Issue What to Check
Post failed to publish Check if the social account is still connected; reconnect if needed
Can't see a platform option The account for that platform may not be connected — contact StudioM Support
Video won't upload Check file format and size; MP4 is widely supported
Scheduled post didn't publish Check if the account was disconnected between scheduling and posting time
Analytics not showing data Data may take 24–48 hours to populate after initial setup

Common Questions

Q: Can I post to personal Facebook profiles? Facebook restricts API access for personal profiles. The Social Planner works with Facebook Pages (business pages), not personal profiles.

Q: Can I repost or reshare content? You can duplicate an existing post and reschedule it. There's no automatic "reshare" function — create a new post to repost content.

Q: Can I schedule posts months in advance? Yes — you can schedule posts as far in advance as you like.

Q: What image sizes work best? Image requirements vary by platform, but a 1:1 square image (1080×1080px) works across most platforms as a safe default. For best results on each platform, check their current recommended dimensions.

Q: Can multiple team members manage the Social Planner? Yes — any team member with access to Marketing can create and schedule posts. If your account has post approval enabled, posts may require review before publishing.
